It may be worth looking at www.ventrian.com New Articles module, this is what I use for the RSS feeds on DNN creative. And that is what we first used when DNN creative was on v3.1.

-  you will have to check though that a module is still available for v3.1

I am having the same exact problem.  I prefer to use the Articles Module from efficon consulting.  I have enabled the syndicate option in the module.  Like the previous member, I am unable to receive any new content.  IF someone were to subscribe to my RSS, it would never show anything being updated.

I checked the DotNetNuke.Services.Search.SearchEngineScheduler, DOTNETHUKE  is running.  IT is set to run every 30 minutes.  When I click on history, it all appears to be operating fine.  It says "Completed Re-indexing Content" and in the Succeeded column says true.  I'm using v.4.04.01 of DNN.

So you are not trying to display your Efficon articles module RSS feed in the NewsFeed module? You just have problems getting the RSS feed to work in this module?

If you copy the RSS feed URL and paste it into a browser you should be able to view the RSS feed to check if it is working correctly.

I've got a related question.  When I select and update the sydicate option, I don't get the RSS orange button showing up on my site.  I've tried numerous things including checking that the scheduling engine is running, it is, trying it on a test and live site.  Still no luck.
I've attached a screen shot of the Announcement module I'm using to try and syndicate something.

Any thoughts?

Hello,

Go to the module settings for the announcements module / page settings / tick the allow syndicate box

Click on update

You should see the orange RSS icons appear at the bottom of the announcements module.

To populate the RSS feed, go to the host menu / search admin / click on re-index content

I had already done the first part, no RSS icon.  So I did the host - search admin - re-index, and that still didn't help. 

I can only think of one thing that would be getting in the way of the icon not showing:  We are using the Inventua Printer Friendly module to create printer friendly pages.  So the printer icon shows up in each module since it's coded in the container.  Could this cause any problems?  I have other sites that don't have that module and tried it on them, with no luck...

If not, it must be something really simple I'm missing?  I've tried it in version 4.0.3, 4.8.3, and 4.9.

I figured it out.  We had been commenting out the tag:

< dnn:actionbutton1 runat="server" id="dnnACTIONBUTTON1" commandname="SyndicateModule.Action" displaylink="False" displayicon="True" >

Duh!  which comes default in the code since we weren't using it at the time.  So a pretty basic thing...but done a couple of years ago so had forgotten about.
