I have installed v5.1.4 Professional on our intranet server. Windows 2008 IIS 7 SQL Server 2008. The initial install for development went just fine. The second development installation (same configuration as above) went fine, but I cannot log into the portal. No errors, just sends me back to the home.aspx - Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Do you see the login page? Have you specified a custom login page?

Yes, I was able to view the login page. I attempted to logon as host (pwd/ID are correct) and was taken back to the default homepage. No I did not set any custom login page. It was a "typical" installation. Thanks for your assistance

IF there was something wrong with either your username or password, you should have been shown an error message and left at the login screen, so something else is going on here.

Look at the EventLog table in your database.  Hopefully, there is an error message that will be helpful.

But, as this is a brand new installation, perhaps you should just delete everything and start over.  Be sure to check the file permissions for your web directory.

Joe, do you know - or could you point me to what permissions need to be granted?

We are hosting with PowerDNN and they've never had this issue before / don't know what to do.

The only thing we can do to insure we login, is to check the "Remember Me" checkbox... this I think is then logging us in via the cookie stored, not the actual login page.

Update - found that for us at least it's only when we go to http://domain.com but not when we go do http://www.domain.com

Keep in mind we also have an SSL cert - registered as www.domain.com

You probably already know a lot more about this than I do.  But ... make sure that both domain.com and www.domain.com are listed in the portalalias table.  That might help - I'm guessing at this point.

Also, if you turn off SSL, I assume that everything works just fine?
