Hi everybody,

Currently we have a homepage that looks like this:
http://www.oipmac.ca/Home.aspx

We have news entered in a HTML module as paragraphs.
As those news get outdated, we move them away to an archive page, which looks like this:
http://www.oipmac.ca/News/2011News.aspx

Currently we need to maintain this manually by entering the text and links in the HTML module and cut and paste them to archive when they get outdated.

Is there any better way of doing this? I imagine there are tons of websites which publish news and they would archive their old news.
I found the Announcement module that might help, but I couldn't find a way to archive the old news. I know that I could set expiry date on the announcements, but that would just make them dissapear on the homepage as soon as they are expired. Can we make something automatically to show them up in the archive page in the same time?

We also wanted to have RSS enabled on the news section. I found that you can set "Allow Syndicate" on the HTML module under Page Settings tab. That option showed me the RSS icon while I was in editing mode, but after I logged out, I couldn't see the RSS icon anymore. Am I using this option in a wrong way?
And even under Edit mode, when I click on the RSS icon, it opens a new page, but it has only the first paragraph. Shouldn't it show all the links or paragraphs from that HTML module (or page)?

I would appreciate for any suggestions.

Three words: Ventrian News Articles.

More words: There are other "articles" modules. All/most of them have features that you can use to achieve that kind of look and feel. You should look around. I have used the Ventrian product on a number of sites. I like it.

I purchased the module but there are tons of options. I would like to simplify a lot for now. I attached a screen capture how the articles come up now, and I would like to show them just as simple links (at least in the archive) and show the content only when you click on them, similar like this page: http://www.oipmac.ca/News.aspx

Can you help me with a few things?
- how to make the title small (I don't need to style it as h1)
- I don't need to show the username and posted date (SuperUser Account posted on December 06, 2011 23:08)
- I don't need the Actions (E-mail and Permalink), actually E-mail is a good idea but what is Permalink doing?

- How would I show the current articles on the homepage and only the archive on this News page? Should I insert another instance of the module to the homepage, and can I set to show only the current (non-expired) articles there? And have all the articles shown in the archive section?

Is there a documentation about how to configure this module? I haven't found on the ventrian website. Also I found a download called "News Articles Handout". I thought is documentation, but it contains aspx pages. What is that module for?

I found a solution for makin the title small. I am not sure uf is the perfect one:

In the Template.css under DnnForge - NewsArticles\Templates\Standard\ folder:

.articleHeadline h1 {
font-size: small ! important;
}

If you know by chance the answer for the rest of my questions, can you please help me?

There are some "walk through" pages on the Ventrian site.

What I usually do is set up the NewArticles module on a page that is hidden from the menu. I use categories and assign them to articles. Then I use the Latest module to display on particular pages. The Latest module has a template that you can control for the display, and you can filter what is displayed.

When you get to the page where articles are actually displayed, you will want to look at the templates. You can copy a template folder and rename it, then edit those templates to your heart's content.
