Hello, I have to make some modifications on the "Login | Register" module which appears on every page. It should be displayed vertically and I have to add some words to it: Please click hier to register. And after hours of search in any possible file, have no more idea how to to that.
I am using a custom skin and there is no skin.xml file there. Is it possible to make the changes for the login register line in skin.xml at all? Any idea or hints for me please?
Many thanks in advance

You can change the text in the Login module by using the language editor. You'll need to find the localized text for the module, and then edit it. Depending on the version of DotNetNuke that you are using, the module may be different.
Open up Local Resources, Admin, Security, App_LocalResources.

Thanks for the answer. I think you mean this file: Signin.ascx.de-AT.resx
I made the required change and uploaded the file to the production server, but nothing has been happened so far. Is there any other necessary step to undertake, like compilation etc.?
Thanks again, and this is DNN 04.05.05.

You probably have to "restart the application" from the host settings page.
I presume that you want to change the German version? I think that's what the de-AT refers to.

Yes, I have to change the German version. I restartet the application from the host settings page on the online application, but the changes haven't still take affect, although I restartet the application, browser and even my machine. Maybe I have done something wrong?
Thanks

If the changes don't appear, I'd guess that you didn't make them in the right place ...

Hello,
I just tested that in DotNetNuke version 4.5 and edited the file that you mention above (I edited the forgot password text) and it displayed instantly in my installation when I logged out.

Hi Lee and jncraig and many thanks. I can't explain it, but one of the changes took at once affect (about 5 min. ago and after about 24 hours). I have heared that DNN applications are been automatically compiled on the production server once a day. Maybe this is true and something has been happened on the production server?
B.T.W. Many thanks again

Most likely it's caching and not compilation. All ASP.NET applications are compiled "as needed" and "when needed." The connection to localized text isn't done at compilation time, but at the time the page is built. If the page with your login module is cached, the changes won't show up until the page gets rebuilt. That's why I suggested restarting the application, as that should have cleared the cache.
