Issue - (Main Issues) Social Group members not showing in social group console and unable to post to journal Current Version - 7.1 (However issue presented itself during upgrade 6.2.4 to 7.05 and i was hoping upgrade to 7.1 would resolve this but it didn't.) Point of failure - 1. Unable to see social group members - "error ocurred whilst processing this request: error". 2. Unable to post to journal - share button when click displays not found error something that developed following upgrade 7.0.5 to 7.1, not checked when at 7.0.5. Things done -( As per discussion forums) 1. Change the page to default skin Dark Knight - result is unchanged problem remains 2. Restarted the site - Unchanged 3. Click the browser cache and logged on with two flavours of the browser the result is the same. 4. IIS level - 11.5 5. Dot net level - 4.0.30319 6. Confirmed the following is set in the web.config file 7. Cleared the site cache 8. Cleared the recycle bin 9. Checked the Admin Event Log - Note no error gets generated here for both issues. 10. Changed the security to not use the page and enabled registered users to view. 11. Created and added an additionla member to retest the result is the same. 12. Cleared the web browser history and cookies 13. Cleared and checked the sites event logs for the members issue no logs get generated. 14. Tested under SA account - Result is the same. Other Issues - Certain functions in the control bar fail (Example add Module) - I have reverted to the ribbon bar to overcome these however this may be related to the social page issue. Reasoning: - This appears to be a permission or Dot Net Services issue however i'm unable to resolve it and i have checked a number of discussion groups and this appears to affect others as well. A clean install works fine however the upgrade is failing and i'm at a loss how to fix the problem as all recommendations\workarounds do not fix the problem and any help would be appreciated it driving me nuts!. Thanks in advance.

I ran into a problem recently and it's been suggested to me (by the DNN support team) that it is essential to follow the suggest upgrade path: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/Pag...grade_Path So, I would recommend tha: 1. Start with 6.2.4 2. Upgrade to 6.2.6 3. Upgrade to 7.0.6 4. Upgrade to 7.1.0 Now, I don't know if that will solve the problem ... but you can at least say to did it the "right" way ... |

Thanks for the advice and yes it may be an upgrade issue. However all my upgrades are done by the hosting provider and unfortunately I think it started when I went from 6.2.4 to 7.0.5 and now 7.1. it was working in 6.2.4 but I didn't check 7.0.5 before going to 7.1.0. Also the suggest upgrade list does not include 7.0.5 and 6.2.4 and I cant roll the production site that far back so I need to try and resolve this by other means. Looking at the console in Chrome give a bit more insight the problem looks like a http 404 error, refer below because for the journal I get the following Http:///desktopModules/Journal/API/Services/Create 404 (not found) For the members directory I'm seeing http:///DesktopModules/MembersDirectory/API/MembersDirectory/AdvanceSearch?advanceUserId=1&GroupId=21&PageIndex=0&PageSize=20&searchTerm1=&searchTerm2=searchTerm3=&searchTerm4=&=1374816545605 404 (not found) So basically the appropriates pages cannot be found and I don't know how to resolve this or what calls this.

I would start by checking to see if those subdirectories exist in the Desktop Modules folder. Next stop would be the forums at dnnsoftware.com. The more recent versions of DNN use the "client api" framewor, which is what the API subdirectory is all about. You won't see that, though, as a file subdirectory. Do you have the Journal and Member Directory installed on any pages? Finally, since your host seems to be helpful (they did the upgrades for you), you might check with them and see if they've seen that problem before. |

Thanks for the reply - My provider PowerDNN have had a quick look at this but cant assist further so at the moment I'm on my own, the suggestions I'm seeing in the discussion groups have not proven helpful. The journal and members pages are a child of the social page created by using the automated setup routine, I have also tried creating them manually but get the same result I have further check my web site and the following is a list of what I've found and it appears I'm not alone on this as others are reporting similar problems. Issues 1. Controlbar problems - yes fixed by changing to the ribbonbar but given this is a feature of version 7, i would prefer to get it fixed as it is an issue for 7.05 & 7.1. a. Edit does not work in the controlbar b. unable to add new or existing module nothing happens c. Recycle of application pool fails. 2. Members directory problems a. Not displaying members getting an error and the scroll bar just cycles. b. button on the page produces http 404 error 3. Module doesn't stay after moving to other panes. Attempted Fixes 1. Checked the web.config for - yes its there 2. Removed all purchased skins including files 3. Set the default skin and container to Dark knight 4. Cleared the cache 5. Restarted the site. 6. Cleared the browser cookies. 7. Checked the IIS version and as stated its at 11.5 9. Checked Dot net and this appears to be okay as well. There is one suggestion out there I haven't tried and that is update file Newtonsoft.Json.dll in the bin directory however there appears to be multiple versions and its unclear which file I should use I downloaded the json50r6.zip but the bin directory in this zip files contain multiple versions of this file based on the dotnet version I assume 4.5 is the correct one but I'm guessing. Is there any trusted DNN developers that can provide assistance in resolving this as I believe having been through two upgrades the issues are likely to follow me for future versions releases.

Another suggestion would be to check the versions of jQuery and jQueryUI that you are using. Hosted or not? Are the jQ and jQUI versions compatible. Your comments about trouble with the control panel indicate possible javascript/jQuery porblems. DNNDeveloper.com is a service provided with PowerDNN to connect you with developers. You can also contact me privately using the contact form at patapscorg.com. |

Hi once again thanks. This is an update, I have undertaken the following but the problems remains I may eventually take you up on your offer, but like most people I like nutting out the problem first at least to the best of my abilities. 1. I Compared the Bin files to the 7.1 new install and every file bar one has the correct size and date, the only difference is "DotNetNuke.Web.DDRMenu.dll" the size is identical however the date does not match the others and since most of my problems are menu related it may be worth while uploading and replacing this, any thoughts on this course of action. 2. You mentioned the jquery as a potential cause of the problems and I agree and tend to lean towards this however the install contains the defaults which I don't normally touch but changing the hosted to use the latest didn't help here either, my settings for these are below. Existing Hosted jQuery URL http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/lib...ery.min.js Hosted jQuery UI URL http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/lib...-ui.min.js Updated(Tried) Hosted jQuery URL http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/lib...ery.min.js Hosted jQuery UI URL http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/lib...-ui.min.js Thanks |

Craig, I tried to reach you using your private email but I didn't get any response, however the problem is now resolved. The issues stemmed from the application pool still being in classic mode this has been amended to integrated mode by my hosting provider and all features are now working i.e. (controlbar, Edit Mode, FileManger Controlbar tool set etc.) From what I have read DNN 6 and below used the classic mode whilst DNN 7 uses the integrated mode and this was not change during the upgrade of DNN from 6.2.4 to 7, you may be able to add clarity on this. I'm unsure there are any tool sets that can interrelate ISS when hosted on a hosting providers web site but the tools provided do not allow visibility or the ability to change this settings and as far as I can see you need direct access to the ISSManager to make any changes. Anyway for anyone having these issues get the application pool settings checked. |

Kevin, I'm glad that you managed to get the problem solved. And I'm sorry that I wasn't able to provide help to you offline. It's been a very busy couple of weeks. The DNN System Requirements are here: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/Platform...tall#2047. That should also include the note that Classic mode is not supported. There is a blog lost on dnnsoftware.com in which Shaun Roberts explains the new requirements: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/blog/cid...NetNuke-7. That does call out integrated pipeline mode as a requirement. That said ... you host should know this! And, DNN is not able to adjust IIS settings as part of the upgrade process. Things like changing ASP.NET versions or switching AppPool modes must be done manually. I'll look at your current issues separately. |
