Is there a setting that changes the toolbars that are displayed? It appears the 'insert image' buttons part of the toolbar is missing? See attached images. PS - where did the notify option go on the forum? |

If you go to Host, HTML Editor Manager and select the TelerikEditorProvider, you will see a set of toolbars that are more like the old FCK Editor's toolbars. It is also possible to install the FCK Editor or the (newer) CK Editor. There is also a UI for configuring the various editor providers. I haven't played with this for the new providers yet. |

I should have said also that switching to the TelerikEditorProvider will give you the familiar toolbars. |

The only option under the Host > HTML Editor Manager is DotNetNuke.RADEditorProvider. The top screenshot appears to be the TelerikEditorProvider. |

It should be available as an optional extension. See Extensions, Available Extensions, Providers. |

By "HTML Provider" to you mean the HTML module? Or are we still talking about the editor, known as the "HTML Editor Provider"? The Telerik Editor Provider has been with us for a while. It looks like Version 6 includes only the RadEditorProvider and the TelerikEditorProvider. I think that the FCK Editor provider is availabe at codeplex.com. There is also a CKEditorProvider at codeplex (The CK editor is a newer and renamed FCK Editor. I believe that the CK name was chosen to replace the unfortunate FCK name. That is actually the initials of the developer, not a play on a bad word!)

Ha - my last reply is a different issue that I thought was relevant. In 6.x there is a Host menu but in pre 6.x I don't see the menu. I have had to edit the web.config before to use a different HTML default module (CuteEditor for .NET). Really nice to use but not easy to administer (IMHO). The newer editors in DNN really don't make it necessary to keep using CuteEditor but it's paid for. At this time though, I'm having a hard time getting rid of it on a legacy site. I keep undoing the installation steps and it keeps taking the site down... |

Yes, in version 6, there is a page under the host menu on which you can configure the editor to use and also adjust some properties, toolbars, etc. That's a nice improvement, IMHO. |

I don't mean to divert my own thread but I'm not sure I have a clear understanding of the direction DNN is going here... In pre-6.x (Lee even included this in tutorials) there was the ability to create a lesser admin set of menus. Meaning, create a new menu list including a tab for Users, Security Roles, File Manager etc.. In 6.x+ it appears it's a bit more challenging to add users and roles to a dumb-down admin menu set. Am I missing something? |

Can you explain a bit more? You can go to the Add Page function and add a page with Admin as it's parent. That page then appears in the sub-menu under admin. |

Sorry for not being more clear - Add a new page not under the admin menu called 'Staff', for example. Under staff you have Files, Roles, and Users. Permissions for each tab are limited to a Site Staff user that you do not want to have full admin rights but you do want them to be able to add and maintain users, update users security roles, and upload and manage files. There was a tutorial regarding this with the introduction of 5.x. This was a nice technique to help extend and delegate site maintenance in limited fashion. In order to make this complete the respective modules needed to be added to their tabs. In 5.x this was no problem but in 6.x it appears users has disappeared from the modules list, even if Admin category is selected. Is there a way to bring it back? Should I update the modules table (which I prefer not to but can)? |

Hmmm ... I replied to the wrong thread: The module in question is "Users and Roles." It is in the "Admin" module category. Modules like this one are modules that you don't want people adding "willy nilly" to sites, so these are defined as premium modules. You need to mark it as a module that can be assigned to pages in your site. Go to Host, Extensions and scroll down to the Users and Roles module. Click the Edit icon. In the Premium Modules section, you will see a list of portals on the left, and a list of portals that the modules can be assigned in on the right. Make sure that you move your portal to the right hand list. Then, you will be able to assign the Users and Roles module to any page you choose. |
