Is it possible to get rid of the (*) after each required caption?

All the fields in my form are required and, if possible, I would like to get rid of all the asterisk and just say "All fields are required" at the top of the form. Thus, does anyone know how to get rid of the required asterisk?

I assumed that this would be in a .resx file. Alas, it appears not. I don't see an easy way to do that.

I found it.

I was curious to see what the .resx files do, so I located them in the app_localresources folder. Then i went through each file doing a search for an asterisk. I found one in the first file (configuration.ascx.resx), but that was for the column title special character error message, which I don't understand why you can't use those characters. Anyway, I almost gave up, but then I got to the sharedresources.resx file and that's where I found the < value >*< /value >. I deleted the asterisk and (like magic) it disappeared from my form.

I doubled checked the form and the fields still require data before the form will be submitted, so I didn't mess up any of the required field functioning. WooHoo!

Great! I think that must not have looked at the sharedresources file.

These are somewhat easier to edit if you use the language editor. If you do, you can also choose to edit the resources for System, Host, or Site. So, you can do this just for your site without changing for other sites in the installation, in which case DotNetNuke will create site-specific copies of the resources file.

You may have noticed two strings:

RequiredFootnote.Text
RequiredIndicator.Text

The first is the comment displayed that "* required". That one does have an ID so it can be styled in CSS.

And that sure is a lot easier than creating a custom module! (I'm glad that you persisted in finding this as I couldn't really believe that this was not editable!)
