I'm using the Help module for the first time and quickly found out that I needed to create the categories first. So created them and they are visible under the Categories module.

However, when adding the tutorial, the categories are not displaying (the Categories prompt is), so I can't allocate any which means the tutorial won't save.

Any ideas?

I don't think that I've looked at the Help Module for several years. I just did, and found several issues related to creating and managing categories.

I would probably suggest that you look for another module.

What specifically do you want to try to achieve? If you can give me some details, I can probably make a useful suggestion or two.

I'm trying to create a set of tutoriials for members (How To Register, How To Update Your Profile, etc, plus other information relating to the purpose of the site).

I've tried having a set of HTML modules but they take up too much space over several pages, I've tried using the Wiki module but I'm not keen on that. Then I spotted the Help module but, as you say, it seems to have "issues".

Any suggestions for a similar module appreciated.

You might want to take a look at Ventrian.com's News Articles module.  While it's not free, it's certainly not expensive.  In fact it is quite inexpensive and is a quite powerful and flexible module.

You use it to create articles which can be displayed in a variety of forms.  Used with the "Latest Articles" module that is part of the package, you can display different groups of articles on different pages.  You can also categorize articles and display by categories.

Just FYI, I posted this on the DNN forums and was informed that the Help module has not worked correctly since version 5.2.3. Something to think about if someone has it working on a previous version and they are thinking about upgrading.
