The terms website and portal are really the same thing.  Each website or portal will have its own URL.

I heard that if a person is logged in to a parent portal and has a matching username on a child portal, he will be automatically logged in to the child portal if he navigates there from the parent. Has anyone out there tried that?

Can you suggest another way, perhaps a SQL script or something else that would log someone in the child when leaving the parent?
