Hello, recently I had an ecommerece module go bad on me for no apparent reason. I hadn't touched anything recently but of course my web hosting provider said its all my fault... Any way, I tried removing the Modules folder under the DesktopModules folder. That change the error message to the default "your web.config file does not have errors turned on" message. (even though <customErrors mode > IS set to "Off") What I want to know is how do I remove that offending module while the site is crashed? Thank you, Jacob Bushnell |

You should edit your web.config file to make the suggested change. You'll get a more detailed error message. You may also be able to find more details in the Event Log. Since this broke the site, it may be that the module in question added some lines to web.config. AFTER MAKING A BACKUP COPY OF THE FILE, you might try editing the file to remove reference. You may also need to look in your website's bin directory to remove dll files associated with the module that you removed. |

Thanks Joseph, I found some documentation saying how to do it and which line to remove in DNN. The module I am uninstalling AliCommerece. Appently it was a pireted version of BV COmmerece. SO there is no support for it anymore. After following the directions to I removed the lines it added in the web.config file. I then deleted all the .dll files in installed, all the tables that came with it, and the all the files I am getting this error here: Server Error in '/' Application.

| I thought that perhaps this was a line that the documentation didn't mention so I commented out that line and then I got this DNN error page: What does THAT mean? Thank you, Jacob Bushnell |

Jacob,
I hope that you made a good backup copy of your database, web directory, and web.config file before you started.
This might be a good time to restore the web.config file to the state before you started and then see which errors occur. Let me know what you find there and we can move forward.
------ I had some trouble removing AliCommerce from a web site once. And, it did leave some stuff in my web.config file when I was done. I can sympathize with your plight, but I expect that we can get you moving forward again.

Yes, I made a backup. Do you mean go back to BEFORE I removed the references to AliCommerce or before I commented out the line 107: ? Jacob |

Ok, its back to how it was. Every time I try to post the the error on this forum it removes it. I have uploaded a sanitized copy of the web.config file here. Jacob

Hmmm I see something really funny here: The code line in question reads "add name="RSSJandler" path="RSS.aspx" verb="*" type="DotNetNuke.Services.Syndication.RssHandler, DotNetNuke" preCondition="integratedMode,runtimeVersionv2.0" Notice the "J" in RSSJandler... inst that suppoeds to be RSSHandler?? |

Do you have DotNetNuke.Services.Syndication.dll in your bin directory? That's the error message that your site is showing today.

Yes, I have verified that it exists in the bin directory. Earlier the who file structure was deleted but then I restored it from a backup. Does that .dll file need to be re-registered or something like that? |

I don't know about the registration question.
But, you might want to check file permissions and make sure that the ASP.NET worker task has permissions. I don't know what permissions are needed to load it, but loading it seems to be the problem.
