Is it possible to hook into the call back from PayPal that notifies me payment was complete so I can generate and send out a registration serial number email to the user? I've read the PayPal documentation, they are calling back, and the module is clearly handling it, can I hook into it somehow? Also, when adding items to the cart, then registering for checkout (or logging in), it takes the user back to the Home page, instead of going back to the shopping cart. How can I fix that? Totally off topic, but amazing. On user registration it asks for UserName, FirstName, LastName, then Display Name. It then goes on to ask for First Name, then Last Name. Has anybody noticed this is a bit redundant? So I go into Admin / User Accounts / Manage Profile and remove the check for visible on FirstName and Last Name. The checks return. I guess DNN requires a user to enter then names twice. Yes, I'm sure there is some 'trick' I'm missing, but regardless of the trick, it seems DNN is a piece of crud. After logging in, and placing a new order, the Billing Address information is not prepopulated. It should be, DNN has all that info. Is there a way to specify that Country should be USA. It is rediculous that they are asked for their region, before being asked for their Country, when selecting country clears out the region section. Also, special instructions entered when paying at PayPal are not showed in the Orders section. Is anybody paying attention? Does this Module seem half assed or what? It's a shame you make such great videos for such a lousy product. One last thing, it's amazing that when I type in this post, it has line breaks and prargraphs, then when I view it, it's all one big paragraph. Then when I edit it, I have line breaks and paragraphs! WOW, has nobody but me noticed these things? Thanks for you attention!

To be honest, if you are looking for a shopping cart, I would not use the core store module, as you can see it has not been developed enough.

It would be better to visit snowcovered.com and have a look at the store modules that are available for sale.

Depending on what you require of your store, you may find DataSprings Dynamic Registration is a useful module if you wish to customize registration and also charge for registration.

On this site we currently use Ventrian.com subscription tools (this is just suitable for user subscriptions).

Regarding the registration Names - When going to Manage Profile Properties, after unticking the boxes, make sure you click on the Apply link in the bottom left hand side.

If you wish to place Country before Region in the users registration, in the Manage Profile page you can use the re-order arrows on the left hand side.

- Regarding the forum, not sure why that is happening, which browser are you using?

I greatly appreciate your response.  I will look at a 3rd party shopping cart.  Or I will just put a PayPal button on a page, I have only a single product to sell.   It's a registration for software I write.  After paying at PayPal, I need to simply handle the call back so I can generate and email out the serial number.  I know there are services out there to handle this, but I'm cheap and could easily have just written it myself.  I guess that was my major source of frustration, I could have had this all done in 2 hours, but instead spent 2 hours fiddling around with the Store Modules.  Oh well, LOL.

It's a shame the DNN Store Module does not handle the flow of user info to PayPal, capture the comments at PayPal, and allow for an easy hook for the PayPal callback.  They could simply add a field for an exe to be executed, on second though, that would be a major security hole.  I was thinking of just putting a CLR SP trigger on the SQL table that watches for an order status to go to 'Paid', which would work well, but without the flow of user info it seems pointless.

I was using IE 8, I'm writing this post with Firefox 3.5.7.  I guess after I click Submit we will know if it's IE 8 that is causing the formatting problem with my first post.

Hello, The site looks interesting. There will be some simple carts available on snowcovered for what you need, or like you say it may be quicker and cheaper to use a PayPal button. I'm writing this in IE8 as a test. - I can see a problem already, so it looks like the editor needs updating. - I had not noticed this before as i tend to use Firefox most of the time. Many Thanks,

Regarding the registration Names - yes, I was clicking the apply link, the problem was that I was removing the check from "visible" but leaving the check on 'required'.  This caused the check on visible to simply reappear after clicking apply.  I understand that now, duh.

What I still don't understand is why it seems DNN keeps profile information for First Name and Last Name as what appears to be fields separate from the First Name and Last Name when creating the login.  See my attached screen shot.

Are these separate fields in the DB?  Is there a way to tell DNN to copy the FN and LN fields from the login information into the FN and LN fields of the user profile?  It just seems odd to have to enter that information twice during registration.

I don't know why they have included first name and last name twice by adding it into the manage profile properties section, but you do not need to display first name + last name twice on your registration page.

In the manage profile properties, if you untick required and visible for first name and last name, you should not get those displaying twice on your registration page.
