New to DNN. Want to have a page for news. Any suggestions on how that can be done? Easiest just to use the FCK, or maybe a table?

The built-in Announcements module is good for this.  Each news article that you have is an announcement with an optional start/end date.  The announcements themselves are input using the editor so you have full HTML control.  You can control the template that lists the news articles, although you don't have as much control as a do-it-yourself css or table layout.

I'd start there and see if that gives you the functionality you want.  Also, note that you can share the module onto other pages. So in other words, you can have a News page that provides a full title, subhead, publication date, and the text of the announcement, and then you can share that onto your home page and just show the title and a link that says Read More.

I agree the Announcements module is a good module to use. If you need more functionality such as multiple RSS feeds, Ventrians News Articles module is useful and that's what we use on DNN Creative. Thanks,

Do you mean that you want only certain roles to be able to see the module?  If that's the question, the answer is yes.
