Within an HTML/Text module (DNN 4.9) I am trying to include a link to a page of my site which needs a querystring to initialise. When selecting 'page of my site' i can't pass an adhoc querystring. Is it possible like with IFrame to passthrough some custom querystring and if so how? Or is the only solution to specify the URL...

Could you provide a few more details on what you are trying to accomplish?

i have a page with a generic module which displays different contents (eg for different software products) based on a querystring (?productID=123). This page is only accessed via link clicks, ie not part of the menu. When i insert a link to this page within the standard HTML/Text editor i would like to be able to specify the querystring value. So that when the generic page is loaded it reads the querystring and the module is loaded with the targeted product information. It all works fine if i manually access the page by typing the URL with the querystring. But how do i refer to it via HTML/Text editor?

The Text/HTML module stores fixed text.
I guess my next question is, where does the querystring variable come from? You could have separate links, each with a separate value of the querystring. If you want to make this dynamic ... you could modify the querystring using javascript or jquery in the module, but you'd still have to figure out which value to insert. Where do you get that?

The querystring passes through the product ID which is the PK of the associated table the module accesses. The administrator can view this unique ID and therefore only needs to specify a value for the generic module to display the details of that specific product. I am developping that custom module for one of our clients based on their requirements/needs. The only remaining task is to specify to them how to define the link to the page with the generic module. They are used to DNN and want to use the HTML/Text editor as they are familiar how to insert links to pages of their site. They use linkclik and don't specify URL as they only ever access 'local' pages.

I think that you are going to have to teach them how to edit in the querystring values by hand.

Thanks for your time, i have now modified the module by adding a settings to identify the product. Although a page per product is now required, it still allows a common layout and presentation. The client is also happy as they can select the product name from a dropdown list in the module specific settings and not worry about the unique ID.
I have developped several site in ASP.Net and querystrings are a relatively easy way to pass information. It would be nice if one could in HTML/Text editor point to a page of the site and pass a querystring, maybe for a future version?
