This is related to FeedBack Module. On submitting this FeedBack it is not sending mail to the e-mail provided at option :
Send TO :
If my site is abc.com, then I have provided xyz@abc.com, at SEND TO (option). But it is not sending mail to this e-mail provided.
What can be the problem ?
Regards

You will want to make sure that the SMTP server settings are correct on the Host Settings page. There is also a Test link there that will generate an email to the host. |

I have added smtp name (Host, Site settings,SMTP settings) and port number as required but it is giving error:-
There has been an error trying to send the test email. The error is: Mailbox name not allowed. The server response was: sorry, that domain isn't allowed to be relayed thru this MTA (#5.7.1)
What can be the reason ?

hi I have a similar problem, i am using dnn 04.09.03 i have a simple module to send email and there is my code to send the email DotNetNuke.Services.Mail.Mail.SendMail(txtFrom.Text, "[portal:email]", "", "Title Here: " + txtFullName.Text, txtMessage.Text, "", "", "", "", "", "") Am I doing something wrong? I have tried the module in locahost and there is no error but the email would not send. I have packed the module for the web, it has installed without problem but the email does not send. the email is correctly set under host setting (smtp) any suggestion? thanks for the help |

If the SMTP server won't send the mail, it needs to be configured so that it will. That's an SMTP configuration issue, not a DotNetNuke issue. DotNetNuke merely sends the mail to the SMTP server for delivery.
ndolle: How do you know that the email is set correctly? Are you able to use the Newsletters module to send mail successfullly?

If you got the message that the test message had been sent, the next question to as is ... was the test message received?
My understanding is that "success" means that the message was handed off successfully to the SMTP server. If the SMTP server doesn't send the message, you won't know unless it is received.
If you use the Newsletters module then Host will receive a delivery summary.

The Newsletters module might labelled Bulk Email on your admin menu.
But, to the original question. Is this a problem with a custom module that you have written?

I believe that the SendMail method returns a status code, doesn't it? Have you checked it?
You might want to get a copy of the Feedback Module's source and see how it's done there.

I have been looking all over for a way to send emails from my own custom module. Can't find anything that works. DotNetNuke.Services.Mail.Mail.SendEmail(mailFrom, mailTo, subject, body); Does not work - And I have the SMTP server in host set correctly. I even installed the Feedback Module and tested it. It worked correctly. DotNetNuke.Services.Mail.Mail.SendMail(mailFrom, mailTo, "", subject, body, "", "", "SMTP Server Name", "", "", ""); Does not work DotNetNuke.Services.Mail.Mail.SendMail(mailFrom, mailTo, "", subject, body, "", "", "", "", "", ""); Does not work I tried looking at the source code of the Feedback module as you suggested. But they seem to be using Threading. Why aren't the "built in" methods working? Is there a new one I can use. I have the latest version of DNN Any help would be much appreciated |

Those methods do work, and should work. The first one uses the SMTP setup from Host Settings. So, if that is set up correctly the mail should be sent. We need to find out what is going wrong when it doesn't work. Look in the event log to see if there are any errors logged and the details. Ask whoever runs the SMTP server to check those logs to see what is happening. Also, have you tried sending a message to yourself or to the address listed in the host settings? Have you received normal mail from this DotNetNuke installation? |

Hello, I am brand new to DNN. I have been tasked to move a DNN environment from one machine to another. Things seem to work, EXCEPT email on the "Contact" form. There is a form where user fills out information, hits submit and someone will receive an email... Well, it comes back with Failure sending mail And, nothing else. Is there logs or something I can look at to see what is going on? I have successfully done the "test" in the SMTP settings, and successfully sends a test email to me, so this part of the configuration is working. I just don't see where in the contact form where the email is even configured. PLease help!

Look in the Event Log (Admin, Event Log) for more details on the error. The Feedback module uses the DNN SMTP setup so there should be no additional configuration. One possibility is the the SMTP server is refusing to send the mail. Perhaps it's a "relay" issue. But, the Event Log should tell you that. If you aren't sure, post the complete error here. |
