I have recently created a Table of contents using the UDT Module following DNN Creatives video tutorial.

I have 3 questions -

1 The data i have is all Courses and dates and can be found at - http://saa.org.uk.previewyoursites....fault.aspx is it possible to update that once the course is out of date it is omitted from the list . For example id the course was 03 June 08 it would not not show on the front end as theat course date has passed ?

2. Can i style the front look so alternate rows are different colours to give it a more pleasing look.

3. Is it possible to to show all course dates for 2009 on a seperate page.

Any Ideas / solutions would be appreciated.

I'm not at all skilled with the UDT Module, and I've already forgotten most of what I learned from Lee's tutorial.

I'd probably have opted to use the Reports table for this. That way you could use a select query like:

Select * From MyTable
Where CourseDate > GetDate()

This will return a list of courses that exist in the future.

You could combine this with

Declare @Year2009 Datetime
Set @year2009 = '1/1/2009'

and do the select as

Where CourseDate > GetDate() AND CourseDate < @year2009


I hope my syntax is right, but you should get the picture. You could easily fix this to provide courses for the coming year, etc.

I suppose that you may have used the UDT for ease of data entry ... adding, deleting, and editing table values. I'm not sure how to do a select with a qualifier on the date in UDT, so I hope that someone will enlighten us!

For alternating colors, you need to do the styling of the result, and Lee's UDT tutorial gives the basics for that. You'd want to start with one of the existing XSLs or create your own. If you create your own, you'll want to style the resulting table for alternating row styles.

As for showing 2009 on a separate page, I'd probably try to implement some sort of dropdown to select the year, or have this year's courses on one page (and one module limited to this year) and with a link to a second similar page for the 2009 events.

Now, mind you, I'm mostly making this up off of the top of my head, but this is the direction I'd take.
