I am looking for detailed information on how the Categories list works in the documents module. I reviewed the Documents module tutorial and I was unable to find what I was looking for. 

Question/Issue: We have a numerous amount of content (mostly pdf's) on our company employee site regarding different subject matters; which are broken out in different locations (basically the same document is posted twice or three times). Example; a general information document regarding health care is located on the home page and that same documemt on a sub page that has simliar health care documents (a library of sorts).

Each time I upload a new document; it adds to the file name drop down list box in the documents module. Which when I post that same document in another documents module location; each document that I have uploaded appears in the drop down box.

I was wondering if the categories lists on the documents module would allow me to manage the number of documents displayed in the drop down list. Or is there a module that replicates (copies) content across multiple pages regarding the same sublject matter.

Any assistance or direction provided would be appreciated.

The categories lists in the documents module will not work in this way. They only have the function to display text of what category the document belongs to, there is no additional functionality available for filtering by category.

-   You may be able to achieve this however by using the core repository module.

If this doesn't help, Snowcovered may have a module which covers your needs.
