I have been trying to figure out the portal alias for my site and have watched some of the tutorials but I am still confused and wary of messing up my site. My configuration is as follows:

When I type in my domain name: http://www.365mammoth.com, the name in the address bar changes to: http://67.199.57.155/Default.aspx

In Site Settings, under Portal Alias, it says: HTTP Alias: 67.199.57.155

Should I delete this Alias? I am new to this and I am worried if I do so I might mess something up.

Try changing the portal alias for your site to www.365mammoth.com.

You might also want to have:

www.365mammoth.com
365mammoth.com
67.199.57.155

as your portal aliases.

Since, if you mess things up you won't be able to get back to your site, I would recommend that you make a backup of your site's database and make sure that you know how to restore a database before doing this. You can also fix things, in the event of a mistake, by using SQL Studio Management Studio Express to examine the database and insert changes that way. You might also want to test this tool and copy the contents of the portalalias table if you have to do that, too.

Before you can delete a portal alias you need to add a new portal alias, otherwise DotNetNuke will not know where to navigate to.

So, first of all add a second portal alias using your URL.

Then navigate to your website using the URL and check that it works correctly. - once you are navigating the website using the URL rather than the IP address, you will be able to access the portal aliases and delete the portal alias urls that you are currently not using to navigate through your website.

eg. if you are using www.mywebsite.com to navigate the other portal aliases ie. www.asecondwebsite.com will be available to delete from the portal alias list
