Hello everyone -

As I am fairly new to the DNN world, I would like to know if there is a way in which we can make video content available only to subscribers and also even with those subscribers either keep them from seeing the url for videos or protect the videos from direct access outside of DNN.

I have tried the secure file system in DNN, but once the FileTicket is known, one can download the content with no problem.  I am more interested in forcing users to only be able to view the video content online, but failing that would like to prevent someone posting a link or link(s) to videos that can be used by anyone to directly access video content.

Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.  If there is info on this site that I missed, please direct me to the location and I will gladly review it before asking more questions on the subject.

While I haven't looked at this directly, I would think that a video player on your site that can play the videos would be protective of the actual files.

OK -

I am a little confused.  So what you are suggesting is some sort of video player that is called by a link that will play a file based on some criteria in the link - is that correct?

Have you done this before or know of what video player might be appropriate to accomplish something like this?

I have done this in the past by creating a flash player that calls the files from a database and the files are in a protected folder. The player has permissions to access the folder but not others can. Not sure how well it worked but never had any issues of piracy either that we know of to date!
