Hi,

I need to implement a site-wide search module that not only searches content but also searches the contents of files that are uploaded to the site (PDF's, XLS, DOC etc.)

Can anyone recommend one? I'm very keen to implement a Google search engine but am interested to hear everyone's thoughts.

I've been trying to embed a google cs search box within a DNN text/html module but it doesn't work. When the user starts the search it actually takes you to a google hosted page so I can't understand why it doesn't work as it doesn't send the user to another DNN based page.

I've been told that I need to use a google cse module for DNN - doing it without this can damage the site! The only way I have found to do this is in an iFrame which is not very elegant

Any ideas would be greatfully accepted?

I use a tool called Zoom Search, it works quite well, and it has the ability to search the contents of files like .pdf and .doc

There is also a tutorial on how to integrate it with a dnn site

if you have a rather small site, you can get away with using the free version

Did you configure the CSE for the site.

It requires some configuration.
