  I've got a weird problem I cannot figure out. Here is situation

1) Added Events Calendar
2) Added an event.
  - I click on the event.
  - It puts me on the events page and it works great.
3) Added another event for a different date.
  - I click on the event.
  - Page refreshes. I see the URL change to something with an ERROR.
  - I view my Event Viewer in Admin
  - I see the exception "InnerException: The Controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks (i.e. <% ... %>)."

   ok, so I did some reserach on this and I understand HOW the exception could have come about. That is fine. What I don't understand is this: I am using SQL 2005 Management Studio Xpress to open the dbo.Events table from the hosting facility. In there, I see my two events just fine. Whenever I try to edit either of them, I get this error:

No Row was Updated
The data in Row 2 was not committed
Error Source: .Net SQLClient Data Provider
Error Message: String or Binary Data would be truncated
The statement has been terminated
Correct the errors and retry or press ESC to cancel the change(s).

It doesn't appear to matter what column I edit, the result is the same. If I try to delete the row...I get the same error. I have edited other fields just fine, but the Events one just fails every time.

Can a DNN guru out there shed some light on this? Thanks!

Well ... before jumping into this ... which version of DotNetNuke, Events Module are you using. And, was there something special about the events, or are they just simple ones.

I don't see any behavior like this using DotNetNuke 4.5.5 and Events 3.3.8.

I figured out what the problem is. I have isolated it down to Locations. Here is how to reproduce:
a) Create an event and name itTest
i) Select a Category
ii) Don't select a location.
iii) Put in text for the description.;
iv) Click Update.

When you go to the list or month view and click on the event, my page just refreshes. It's the lack of location that seems to be throwing the error. Dunno if they fixed it in the version you have, but it's worth testing. I can't get rid of events I have created I may have to delete the module and start anew. Let me know what your findings are.

I would delete the Events module and start with the newer one. You can download it from the DotNetNuke site. Let us know if the newer version has the same problems.

I figured it out, and it was 100% my fault. I'm too embarrassed to even explain it so I won't. Thanks for your help though as it led me to review my own work and helped find my goof.
