I have a question about opt-in to roles.

I have watched the video tutorial on how a user can subscribe to a role by clicking on their name in order to edit their account profile, then clicking Manage Services.

I feel this is somewhat unintuitive. I have a page on my site called "Newsletter", I would like to place a module in that page that allows any users that have logged in to the site to opt-in to the newsletter without having to follow the usual process. I am thinking along the lines of a button that says "Subscribe to Newsletter", the function of this button being to add the user to the Newsletter role.

Is there anything out there that already does this, I am looking for a free solution because it is such a simple task and I would resent paying £ for something to do it.

If there isn't anything already out there to do this - I think it would be a great project for my first module.

There are modules out there which will create opt in lists, but I have not seen a free module that does this. - So this could be your first module project!

In fact, I was hoping you would say that. I will do the honerable thing once the module is complete and release it for free. Hopefully it will become the most used module of its kind, given the fact that it is free.

I'll keep you posted to let you know how I get on!
