Hi Lee
Just to give you an update and let others know should they be unfortunate enough to own an abusive database. Apparently my database was making the server spike. At the time of writing, I am awaiting news from my hosting provider to inform me that my "clean" database is restored and the site back on line. I would not have reached this stage without lots of help from John Mitchell (snapsis.com).According to John, the problem is basically because I am on a shared server, it is probable to assume that the server may have some runaway sites or process and they will just start killing them off until they eliminate the problem. Orit may be a faulty hard drive on the server, but for whatever reason the files that the Database is stored in became corrupted. It seems that my database had several consistency errors and 'torn pages'. (a database term). Most of the corruption was in the ErrorLog table, but there were some torn pages that could not be linked to any tables. To solve the problem, the database needed to be cleaned. It is suggested to clean out the error log files often to keep database clean.Lynn
