I have installed DNN 4.4.1 (Windows Server 2003 R2)

IN ROOT DIRECTORY OF MY SITE

all things has been done succefully (MS  sql ver. 2005  , ASP.NET 2.0)

and i browsing other PC in "localhost" using XP SP2 , ASP.NET 2.0

The Problem is using IIS 5.1

"Server Error in '/DNN' Application"

Failed to access IIS metabase.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Web.Hosting.HostingEnvironmentException: Failed to access IIS metabase.

The process account used to run ASP.NET must have read access to the IIS metabase (e.g. IIS://servername/W3SVC). For information on modifying metabase permissions, please see //support.microsoft.com/?kbid=267904.


and i follow the instruction by support.microsoft to download and extract the file and i have
no idea to how to path the file in IIS.

Any assistance anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated.

I had the same error. This I found on the DNN forum. It worked for me
Did you by chance install asp.net before IIS? Maybe try opening a DOS prompt changing to the :\windows\Microsoft.Net\framework\yourversion of aspnet  (maybe check that path,  it's off the top of my head) and run aspnet_iisreg -i
