How to redirect different web-addresses to the correct child portal?

You mentioned in a tutorial Lee that you are using several different web addresses and simply address them to different portals on the same web-hosting.

That must be a query string that picks up the text from the browser address window and redirect accordingly???

Does anyone have some Ideas please?

PS; Currently working string below, but this one direct all calls to the same portal.

I don't use a response redirect string. - If you read: DotNetNuke and Multiple Portals you will see the method.

- point the domain name to your hosting provider with DNS settings
- using IIS and Host Header Settings point domain name to IP address of your dotnetnuke installation
- DotNetNuke installation - set your portal alias settings

Then check all other portal tutorials in Issue no 17

I'd guess that most people are on shared hosting which normally means that IIS and Host Header are not accesible.

I've ended up using DNNSPIREs Traffic director to created 301 redirects.  It's not a very elegant product, but it is easy to set up and seems to work fine.

HI caroig. Since you've successfully set up Traffic Director, I was wondering if you could help me out.

I've set up Traffic Director on a "hidden" home page per the instructions. However, I cannot get redirections to work based upon roles. They at first appeared to have worked. Now they don't.

Site: DNN 4.3.7
Traffic Director version: 04.03.01

Hidden home page settings:
-Page Permissions set to "All Users"
-Advanced Settings hidden check box is checked
-Set as "home page" in Admin>Site Settings>Page Management
-DS_TrafficDirector module on page and permissions set to "All Users"

Module Configuration:
-One configuration set to Redirect On Always
-Default Direction set to "Page" and "Home" (not the hidden page)
-Roles set for "Custom1", "Custom2" and "Custom3" to go to separate pages in DNN.

When I log in as a "Custom1" role user, I get back to the regular "Home" page (not the hidden page).

What am I missing?
