hi

 i am trying to install new version Dotnetnuke on my pc --this error has happen
to me several times and i cannot sem to recover from it except to uninstall everything
and start over Dnn install ok,,after a 4 days when i login as a user the url when i get the error

"An error has occured"

if a login a host a new IE, i open it in a host,

i obervation the site log
"Your Hosting Provider Has Disabled the Site Log History Feature For Your Portal"
   Report Type: affiliate Referrals
   Start Date: 3/15/2007
   End Date:3/22/2007

a new install (although repeated several times)

 it is in my localhost and database is in the server

Any ideas of what to look for? pls help me thanks

The log files are viewed from: Admin / Log Viewer

The Site Log History gives you  details on how many visitors you have per day etc and the log viewer provides details of errors and installing of modules etc

Are there any errors showing up in your log viewer?

You can check your log table by logging into your MSSQL database traccer. and look at your EventLog and SiteLog table (the event log will have more specific info on any errors). You don't say if there is anything you do in those '4 or so days'. Do you have any custom modules? What modules are you using specifically?

If you could tell us a complete module list, it would help us see what's happening. Also, your EventLog should have some other errors that occurred *before* you get the login issue.

Also, to change your site log history, for some reason, it ignores (for me anyway), any number I type into the Host Settings for this. You have to go to the Log History in the Admin Settings (for me anyway), to get it to actually start storing information.

I'm also having an issue with this in 4.3.5. My site log stopped recording URL Tracking about 3 weeks ago...I don't have any custom modules (except for Scott McCulloch's excellent Suggestion Central module, and I'm 100% sure that's not causing this problem), but anyway, if you look in the database, and see any suspicious errors in the event log, and give us a list of modules you've installed on pages, that would help us help you..

Hi Andy,

The setting in the host settings gives a portal the initial site log history in days when you first create the portal. After that you have to adjust each portals site log history using the admin / site settings.
