Moving a site to DNN

I have a standard GoDaddy html site that I need to migrate the domain to PowerDNN and recreate the site in DNN 7x. What is the best way to create the new DNN site before I transfer the domain, otherwise the site will be down until I recreate the site and I will loose the content. Keep answers simple please. Rod

You can use the temporary URL that PowerDNN assigns to build out the site. When it is done, just move the DNS pointer to the new site. And, you need to make sure that the new site is configured to use the correct URL. PowerDNN can do that for you. When you sign up for the PowerDNN account, you will tel them the URL for the site. It won't be active, though, until you move the DNS, so the temporary URL will be the one that you use.

Are you going to move the site to a new install at PowerDNN, or to replace the install that's there now? Guess I need to know more.

I have one install and do not plan on adding a second install.

Are you going to replace the existing install with a copy of your other site. With good backups of your database and web directory, PowerDNNs support staff can help you get things configured. Just aske them.
