Hi All,

I am a little new to DNN and currently I have installed DNN Professional 6.0 trial version on my server.

After that I have created two roles
1.Professor
2.Student

And four users

1.ProfessorA (with role Professor)
2.StudentA (with role Student)
3.ProfessorB (with role Professor)
4.StudentB (with role Student)

Then I gave view access permission to Professor Role users to the page
Mydomainname/admin/usersaccount.aspx

On this page I have a module called User Account. In this module’s setting’s I found permissions tab with Edit, Delete, Manage Settings, Full Control etc.

My questions are
1)When I give Edit permission to role Professor and bock other permissions, the professorA/ professorB can still delete the listed users.
Why is this happening?

2)How can I allow a user with role Professor to create and manage his own group of users with role students and manage only users belongs to his group?

Is this possible with DNN community 6.1 version? Or I’ll have to go for DNN Professional 6.1 version? If yes, then how? How to manage users with roles and groups?

Please suggest a solution.

The module permissions that you mention are for the module: Edit the module's settings, Delete the module, etc.

It's generally not a good idea to give people not site administrators access to the User Accounts module, as there are other site-related items that they will be able to edit.

I'm not sure that what you are asking for is available. I'd love to hear how others might have addressed this issue.

Just a thought -- as you are evaluating the Professional version of DotNetNuke, you might want to ask their sales engineering team for advice on this particular issue.
