I am creating a skin that has two menus, both at the top.
the first is the root menu and has the root items, the second menu has the child items of the root menu.
I have got that part working well.

the part that starts to fail is when I select one of the sub menu items.
It removes the sub menu completely (I guess because I have only told it to display child of root and I am now not there). Then it allows the menu items to hover and dropdown menus.

I have seem a few posts that come close but never figured out what to do.

is there a way that I can overcome this issue as it is the last piece of the puzzle in my skin.

I'm sort of guessing because I can't see what you are doing. Nonetheless, if you always want the Root and the selected root item's children, I think that you want to set ExpandDepth=2 in the first menu. If you do that, you won't need the second menu.

If you need the root and child items to be physically separate, you might have more flexibility if you switch to the DDR Menu, the current default menu. It is more flexible than the NAV menu.

I put the if else scipt in and specified Level="Child" items first then Level="Same"

i.e. If active tab level is less than 1 (0) then use child items else use the same level items

it works a dream if anyone else comes across this post.

That is a nice solution.

(And, I wasn't aware of this site before. There are some other nice tips there, too.)
