Need advice on how to accomplish this. I would like to have a main site, such as, www.sample.com. I would also like to have a sub-site, such as, www.sample.com/example.

If you navigate to www.sample.com the home page would be have a particular look and if you navigate to www.sample.com/example that page would have a certain look to it.

I admin a client site where this is set up and the file and pages structure are different. It appears to be two separate sites, but the admin login is the same for both so i know they are connected and also the skins are shared, but when you look at the file structure and the page structure they are separate. I only have portal admin rights, not host admin rights.

I'm trying to discern how this is done. ShortURLs don't appear to be used. How can the sites be connected, but the file/page structure be different. I can delete or add pages on one site and it doesn't affect the other? What am i missing in my understanding of how these sites are set up?

This is a DNN or 4 site. not sure which.

Is this a DotNetNuke installation?

If you set up www.sample.com/example as a "child" site of www.sample.com, the child part is that the two separate sites share a URL, but little more.

They can share skins and modules that are part of the single installation.

Superuser accounts apply to the installation, so a superuser has access to both. Administrator accounts are limited to individual portals.

As a superuser, you can add and delete pages from both sites, but neither site affects the other.

There are some modules available that permit sharing users between otherwise separate portals. I understand that future versions of DotNetNuke will allow you to couple portals and share users and content. I don't know that much of this has been implemented yet.
