I have managed to upgrade my server to .net 4.0 and amended my WEB.CONFIG so that it works with .net 4.. the site is running fine, but i cant login as the login controls dont show up.

No error message is displayed, and i cant login with the backdoor method either.

any ideas? as i need to install a module which was coded in .net 4

How did you alter your web.config file?

My recollection is that DotNetNuke will recognize that it is running in a .NET 4 environment and make changes to web.config. Did you try that or did you possibly have problems when you switched .NET versions? You might want to go back to the original web.config and see what happens.

Thanks for your response, no DNN 5.01 wont allow you to just switch the application pool .net framework. As it just errors with a generic error 500 internal server error.

Its such a pain as i just want gallary server pro 2.4.8-(.net 2.5/3.5) or 2.5 (.net 4 version) to work)

Gallery Server Pro seems like a quite nice module. I "fiddled" with it last summer, but have not used it on a live site.

Also, this might be a good time to think about upgrading your site. You have a somewhat old version of DotNetNuke and an upgrade to 5.6.3 might help in other ways, too. About the only problem that I can recall in doing a upgrade would be if you are using the XML module. If you are, upgrading the the latest version BEFORE upgrading DotNetNuke will circumvent that problem.

I installed a fresh clean copy of DNN 5.01 and installed the GSP 2.4.8 successfully.
However the current installation of my site is throwing up an error when you add an instance of the module to the page. It also doesnt want to uninstall successfully.

I cant even upgrade the installation to 5.4.2, in fact when i do the site is semi broken. Text in various areas is missing and modules error. I would love to simply upgrade and start using GSP 2.4.8.

I would recommend that you contact the developer. Showing the entire error message also would be a help.

I would try installing this on a DotNetNuke 5.6.3 installation. You may just need a later version. You could confirm this with the developer, too. (I've had several instances to contact Roger Martin when I was testing the module last year. He was prompt and helpful!)
