After upgrading to DNN 6.0, the "Allow Print" icon that I had turned ON for some of my modules does not appear for SOME users. That is, when I log in with the SuperUser account I can see the "Allow Print" just fine. But when a normal user logs in they can't see it despite the fact that the "Allow Print" checkbox is checked in the Module Settings.

I am using a skin from DotNetNukeSkin.com that was working fine before the upgrade. I have already checked with them and they have put out a small CSS update that did nothing to fix my issue.

Can anyone tell me where I am to look to control this feature? Is it an attribute of the SKIN?

There's nothing in the framework that allows you to set that based on role permissions. Of course, a custom skin could do that.

Did the folks at DotNetNukeSkin.com indicate that they understood the issue and that their fix was supposed to repair it? If so, you should let them know that the fix wasn't a fix!

Is there any chance that I could look at your site? That might help me understand the issue better.

The skin makers did not say for sure that this patch would fix my issue. I thought I would come here and DotNetNuke site for quicker help.

You can visit he "Contact Us" page at the website www.united-power.com . The HTML module that contains the two points of Contact Information use to have the printer icon in the lower right corner. Now, since DNN 6.0 upgrade, there is nothing.

I also have many other modules that do not show the printer icon once logged in. You may log in as username Demo and password: upsidemo.

Once logged in, click on the Equipment menu and then pick a unit and examine its data. All of the modules that have grids and graphs have "Allow Print" turned on.

I read a post from 2006 that indicated this same exact issue when someone upgraded to DNN 4.4. It was reported as a bug in that version that was to be fixed.

Could this be that same bug is back? Is anyone else having issues with the "Allow Print" option? Can anyone help me? I feel like I'm chasing a ghost.

I think this is a bug in DNN6. I can't even get the Print icon to appear when using one of the new Container Skins that come with DNN 6.0.

I have a DotNetNuke 6 test site. I have a copy of the Minimal Extropy skin installed, so I switched a test page to use that skin. When I did, both the Allow Print and the Visibility control (the +- thing) work just fine.

So ... I would tend to blame this on your skin. You can get a copy of the Minimal Extropy skin package from an Install of 5.6.x and add that to your site to test that yours is working the same way that mine works (just to make sure).

The reason that this doesn't work with the Dark Knight containers is that the designer of that skin chose not to use them.

I looked at the html of one of your site's pages, and DotNetNuke isn't trying to render the Allow Print icon. So, I'm wondering if the Display Container box is checked. Also, is the "Enter Title" text the title of this module, or another one?

I tested the Minimal Extropy skin on my "Contact Us" page and I get the same problem result. No print icon. I did verified again that the "Allow Print" and the "Display Container" are both checked. And thanks for the correction info to the title of my module. I fixed that.

The action menu behavior has changed in dnn6 in favor of using just the mega-menu.

This is also affects syndication. You will see the print link if you are logged in as admin in the action
menu, this renders both syndication and print useless though.

The good news is that 6.0.1 is due any day now, and perhaps that will fix the problem.

Yes. I hope it is soon. I have had my hosting provider rollback my DNN to 5.6.1 while waiting.

When the upgrade is available, I'd recommend doing the upgrade and testing on a local copy. When all is well, you can then move the upgraded site to production.

I've come up with a workaround (Sort of...)

What I did was:

- Click the print icon on a module logged in as administrator, copied that URL and put it in notepad for the moment.

- Save the print image to your computer.

- Add a Text/HTML module to the page right underneath the module.

- Upload and insert the icon to your page with the module, right align it, and add a hyperlink to the image.

- For URL: copy and paste the URL you've put in notepad.

- You may want to make it open a new window to replicate the behavior of the actual print icon.

- Save your changes.

Now regular users can see this image and click on it.
