Hi, I've added the login token to my site so that I have a link to log into DNN in my footer. Once the skin has been parsed, the Login link appears and it sends me to the login page where I can log in which it does successfully. The link then changes to *Logout* as it is meant to but when I click to logout, it doesn't do what it is meant to but instead take me to a version of my home page with no content. The only thing different in this installation is that I have I have created a new login which is a parent of Admin in DNN (www.mysite.com/admin/login.aspx) The only other thing that is different is that we're using DNN 5.6.2. Cheers, James |

Hmmm, why did you make the Login page a child of admin? I would make it a top-level page and just remove it from the menu. See if it works better that way. |

Hi Jo! Reason I put it there was because I needed another Login menu item which would log the user in to Smith Cart rather than DNN. The only way for me to do that was to move the login into Admin. I have in the interim changed the name of that Smith Cart button and will move the Login from Admin if you think this is what is causing the problem? Thanks again, James |

I don't understand the comment about logging into Smith Cart rather than DotNetNuke. Can you explain that to me? |

Well, I wanted to create a button called Login so that people can log into Smith Cart. Naturally, I couldn't have a button called Login because this conflicts with the login page already existing in the root of the site. So I moved the Login page to Admin and then created a Login page in the root so that it redirects the shop login. http://bit.ly/q2wwJx (the login is now called Shop Login) Doing it this way though causes my problem in that the parsed token [Login] does not log the site out once I am logged in. |

Hi Joseph, I have moved the login page which I had in Admin back to the root and I have noticed that on all other pages except the home page, I can log out of the site normally. On the homepage though, if I click on the Logout link, I am redirected to a home page which has no content on it and I am not logged out. Is there any reason why the homepage logout should be treated any differently from all other pages? They all have the exact same html code and they are all parsed successfully. Thanks, James |

No, the logout should be the same everywhere. If that page without content actually exists, try deleting it. Is it a "real" page? Also make sure that you haven't specified a redirect after logout page. |

Hi Joe I've looked for a redirect after logout option and not seen anything. If all other pages are logging out properly, then the home page should log out properly right? When I log out from the home page, I am redirected to /Home/tabid/41/ctl/Logoff/Default.aspx which is not a "real page" under pages. Cheers, James

The Redirect After Logout is under User Settings on the User Accounts page. But you are right: its behavior should not depend on which page you are on when you logout. Does your home page use a different skin than the rest of the site? There might be something (javascript, jQuery, etc) on the page that breaks the logout link. For fun, try changing the home page skin (if it is different) and see if that works. If so, look to your home page skin. If not, maybe a module on the page. If that's the case, make a copy of your home page, selectively delete modules and test. |

Wow...if there is one thing I wish DNN would get to is laying out the entire CMS similar to Wordpress or Sitefinity so that it is FAR more User Friendly. That option was so tucked away it's crazy. Going to try your suggestions now thanks Joe! |

Ok, so it works when I changed the skin. I then started the process of elimination by removing all the JS first which didn't work. Then I started removing the runat divs which hold the content to the point where all I had on the page was the [dnn:LOGIN runat="server" id="dnnLOGIN" /] token. This too didn't make any change. With any other skin I have created for the site or the default Minimal Extropy, the logoff option works. I am going to try a very different take on it now but in the interim, I was wondering if there is anything else it might be? Thanks Joe! |

Other than pointing out the obvious that there's something wrong with that skin, no. I'd have to see it and test it to try to find the problem. |

Hi Joe, This is the page I am talking about http://bit.ly/q2wwJx and I have zipped up the homepage.aspx file if you wanted to see if you can spot something I may have missed. (Which I thought I couldn't have since I eventually stripped it down to the bare bones). Thanks again! James |

OK. The problem really seems to be the Logout link. The Login link works fine. Since I can't test that without logging in, I tried to register an account. I noticed that clicking the Register link from your login page doesn't work. That opens up a blank page. So, I need to login, and also need to figure out why Register isn't working. If you would like to create an account for me to login with, send me the credentials using the Contact page at patapscorg.com. |

Hi Joe, I have sent you the credentials to the site. Thanks for looking into it. As I mentioned in the mail, there is a reason we are using the base skin file because there are some issues with Smith Cart (actually a limitation in DNN) not allowing us to change the Titles. Cheers, James |

Hi Joe, Having trouble logging into my gmail account today and not able to see if you got back to me on the home skin issue. Did you manage to have a look at it by any chance? Cheers, James |
