Hi everybody,

I upgraded my DNN website from version 5.6.1 to version 6.0.
I logged in as host and found that I cannot edit any pages. When I click on Edit Content, it shows "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".
I use IE 9, but I tried to access from another computer with IE8 and it has the same problem.

Anybody had same problem after upgrading?

Is there anything in the Event Log that might indicate a problem?


There is this problem with the upgrade, but I'm not sure that it would affect you:

DotNetNuke.RadEditorProvider
Another new feature of DotNetNuke 6 is the implementation of the dnnWerk RadEditor Provider as the default HTML editor provider (it’s called DotNetNuke.RadEditorProvider in DNN 6). We use this HTML provider on a number of our client sites and highly recommend it. The site that I was upgrading however did not have it installed but I did want to implement it. The issue is that the DNN 6 upgrade package does not include the install package for this provider. After the upgrade the editor wasn’t available. I assume that’s just an oversight and will be included in later versions, but either way it’s not hard to resolve. The solution? Easy, just download the DNN 6 install package and in the Install/Provider folder you’ll see RadEditorProvider_06.00.00_Install.zip. After you install this module you will see a new Host menu item named HTML Editor Manager. There you can enable the provider and configure it to your liking.

Thank you very much for your fast answer.
In the meantime I had an other error when I tried to install the RadEditorProvider extension. When I clicked on Install Extension Wizard, nothing happened and I had an Error on page warning. When I clicked on details, I found this error: "dnnModal is undefined", so I found this solution to it:

I copied the Debug folder from the DNN install package to my website and it showed up the Install Extension Wizard in a modal window.
After I installed the RadEditorProvider package, I found at the hosts items under "HTML Editor Manager", that we were using the "Telerik Editor Provider".
I changed to DotNetNuke.RadEditorProvider, but actually I like the Telerik Editor better, it seems to have more options.
So do you think that the problem was with the Debug folder missing? Since I am not using the RadEditorProvider and now the Edit Content still works.
In any case you pointed me to the right direction.

I don't know how or why this happened, but I'm glad that you were able to fix it.

(Since 6.0 is the first of a new series, it's not surprising that a few problems occur. This was an easy one, though!)

I also have the same issue with the html module. Clicking on the Edit Content link it shows "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Same happens with Mozilla. I have changed the provider for the html module as suggested but it still does the same. Well i dont think its also related to upgrading for my instance as when i upgraded the website mid last year it worked fine until last week. Any ideas?
