DotNetNuke doesn't include this capability. How do you plan to use it? Perhaps knowing that will help with a solution.

In that case, add a Text/HTML module to a page, and set it to appear on every page. In that module, you can add something like:
Site Version xx.yy.zz (Last updated 31 March 2011)
Then, every time you update the site, don't forget to update that module.
There is a module from itlackey.net called Page Last Updated that will figure out and display on a page the date of the most recently updated module. "Out of the box, this module interfaces with the Text\HTML and Links modules to calculate the last updated time; however, it is also very extendable and allows you to add your own code to interface with any module that tracks the last time it was updated. To do this is usually as easy as developing one simple method."
I have used that module on one site and was happy with it. It's quite cheap -- a few dollars.
