We use the Effority Text/html module with workflow: http://workflow.codeplex.com/ and we're looking for a way to export all of the text that's in that module, it's on many, many of our pages. Does anybody know if there's a way to export it out and then import it into just the plain text/html module so that we can avoid cutting and pasting everything? Is there a database way to do it?

I haven't used this module since DotNetNuke's HTML module started supporting multiple versions. I used to use it quite a bit.

The module supports Exporting content to an XML file. The HTML module can import from an XML file. If you export from both modules, you will see the slight differences between the two files. It would be a relatively simple process to export all of your Effority modules, edit the files, and import them to HTML modules.

But, the time will be spent doing all of that importing and exporting manually. It still might be easier to do this with cut and paste, except for the "many, many" pages issue. You might be able to automate the process.

Another way to do this might be to export the entire site and do an edit on the exported file to replace Effority Modules with HTML modules. You could develop this by exporting a single page to see what kinds of changes you would need to do.

Then, there is also the notion of writing an SQL process to find all of the Effority modules, add a corresponding HTML module, and move the content directly from one database table to another. It might be easier to do it with a program, rather than in SQL as the methods to add modules programmatically might be easier to do.

With 10s of modules and/or pages, I might just bite the bullet and do it manually.

In any event, I would do all of this in a copy of the website and then move the copy to the live site ...
