I had a server crash recently, and unfortunately when restoring a DNN installation, I found that the backup was not quite up-to-date, and specifically, I believe the machine key has changed. Unfortunately this particular web.config seems to be the only one I have. The problem I am having is that when using the method to create a new user, then going into the Users table and changing the Superuser flag, I receive a 'Page cannot be displayed' error after trying to login. If I change the user back to a non-superuser, everything is fine. Are there any steps I can try to restore full access further to what I have tried so far (I have tried the method of copying the newly created user encrypted password fields to the Admin and Host accounts, with the same results after login) further to what has been suggested, or will I have to resort to recreating the entire site again from scratch? I am using DNN 5.6.1. Many thanks.

It's probably not a problem with the machineKey. It's a little hard to tell what the problem is.

But, after logging in, which URL causes the "Page cannot be displayed" error?

Can you visit other pages?

I doubt you will have to create the site from scratch.

When logged in as a Superuser, I am unable to display any pages at all, even the home page. All pages work fine when logged in on a non-Superuser account.

I have a similar problem - when I try and log in to my site as a Superuser I get redirected to https:///?id=MYID&hostid=MYID (with no portal alias), but when I log in as a normal user everything is fine.

Anyone with an Admin/SuperUser account has the same problem, but all my users are unaffected.

That's an odd one. Have you done any customization of the login process? Is SSL being enforced on your site?

SSL isn't being enforced. I have 2 other portals on the same site and they work fine. On the portal that isn't working (id 29), it is just using the standard login process. Even if I log in as the host user on one of the other portals, then try and navigate to portal 29 through Host>Portals, I still get the same error. What I find really strange is that it works for normal users

I should also note that the problem doesn't appear in Chrome, Firefox or Safari (iPad) - only IE
