Hello,
I was just wondering if there are any modules around supporting the creation of RSS feeds.
For instance if I want to provide the name/description columns from one of my database tables -
is there a DNN module that allows me to input a select statement and output an RSS feed?
The standard DNN RSS module requires a "Feed URL" - this is what I need to produce...
Any suggestions?
Best Regards
Oliver

I believe that all that you module has to do is to implement the iSearchable interface. If it does, then the module setting to "allow syndication" becomes active. If you check the box, then DotNetNuke will create the RSS feed from that instance of the module.
Take a look at the source of the Announcements module to see how this works.

Absolutely correct! it is very simple to generate your own RSS feed - however....
I mentioned that the need to select something from a database, e.g.
I am using the report module with syndicate enabled and the following query
select username as le,email as description from users
The RSS feed is empty. Do I need to generate a custom XSLT file? (I think i've seen this somewhere here...)
Many thanks for the quick help.

I have not used syndication with the Reports module. I'll dig around and see if I can find something.

I too am trying to use the Syndicate feed with a report module. I have a select statement that is going to a database for some data and displaying it back just fine. When I set up the feed, however, the feed comes up blank. Not sure what is wrong. I have also done the same with a Form/List module with no luck.

You need to have the Reports Module's report shown automatically, and it needs to be searchable. The searchable part should be automatic. You can verify this by checking to see that the report shows up in the Search Results.
You also need to have the search indexer task active under Host, Schedule.

Could someone post a link to some tutorial information on setting up a RSS feed using the Syndicate? I've been searching, but have only found information on how to set up the RSS Module.
I am wanting to use my Form and List module to put out its own RSS Feed, so for example, another user can use the RSS feed from my page on theirs to keep up with news I posted through my Form and List module.
Thanks for any help

If you check the Syndicate box on Module Settings, the Form and List module should produce an RSS feed. Right click on the RSS button to see or subscribe to the feed.
I'm not sure how much control you have on what the feed contains. I will try to look into that and get back to you.

I'm having the same issue. So far this is the only post I found.
I am using the Forms and List Module and I want an RSS Feed for it. I have data in the List, I have Syndicate turned on for the module. I click on the little RSS icon the page comes up where I can see the data and 'Subscribe' if i want to, the problem is, my data in the list is not present anywhere. All I see is the Subscribe and that's it. Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure that the Search Indexer task is enabled. This us uner Host, Schedule. You won't see any data until the indexer has run.
