Hello!

 I was doing tutorials 5 & 6 and after the third video from tutorial 6, I uploaded the new skin and now when i go to www.avancecare.com.93.seekdotnet.com, it gives me a Server error saying " The resource cannot be found'. I just applied the new skin. Uploading the skin didnt give any errors.

Has anybody else come across this problem. Please help, deadline is roudn the corner

Ok, lets try to get you back online asap.

The skin that you uploaded, was this your own skin or the skin that is included with the videos?

At the moment, the error I can see on your site is:

Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)

Have you been trying to fix the problem and then received this error?

if I create a skin that causes a problem, the quick method for fixing is to access your DotNetNuke installation files using FTP.  Within your DotNetNuke installation files, go to the folder where you have installed your skin and delete this folder.  DotNetNuke will then revert back to the original DNN blue skin.

Once it has done this go to your settings and change the default skin back to the DNN blue skin.

You should now have a working DotNetNuke installation.

A tip when first working with skins is to just apply the skin to a single page rather than to the entire website. This way if something goes wrong you only cause an error with the page rather than the entire website.

Thank you for answering both my questions. I did FTP and deleted that folder. It works fine now.

Also, when i had posted the first question, I had not subscribed to DNN creative mag. Now that I have done that, I am going through 5&6 tutorial. However, instead of creating exact Vortex Music skin, I am tailoring the skin as per my client's requirements. While uploading the skin, I got confused, during the http://localhost/DNNCreativeTutoria...ces.  So,to take a short way, i zipped up the file and just uploaded through DNN Skin uploading tool and it uploaded it without probs but when i applied the skin, it crashed..

So now, should i FTP to avancecare and put the zip file in the install folder and replace localhost with avancecare? Will that work?

The methods for installing the skin are the same so it will not make any difference using the URL installation method, so you need to check the code in your skin.

One of the common errors is forgetting to place a content pane in the skin to allow DNN to add modules. - If there is not an area named contentpane it will throw errors.

I would compare your code with the vortex skin just to double check.

Once you upload your skin, make sure you apply it to one page rather than the entire site just incase!
