My users dont get an email that confirms their registration. Are they not supposed to get that? Is it maybe something i have not configured....

Have you configured an SMTP server? Go to the Host Settings page to check and to send a test email.

If it is configured but the mails aren't getting to your users, make sure that your SMTP server will send the mail. Sometimes, SMTP servers are configured to "deny relaying" which often means that they won't send mail from your site or to outside addresses.

Its configured now. I used my personal gmail account. When i try test email it works. It tries to send an email from my account to a support@mywebsite.com adress wich does not exist. So it seems that the configuration works. When i log into my email account i can find the email in the sent section. But when someone registers on my website they still wont get an confirmation email.

The mail to support@mywebsite.com is, presumably, the test email that is sent from the SMTP server configuration area.  It uses the email address configured on the Host Settings page.  Change that to use a real email address.

Regarding the new user mail.  Can you tell if DotNetNuke is trying to send them or not?  If you are sending "from" your gmail account, then maybe they appear in the sent items section?

Can you manually create a new user and make sure that the notify  box is checked.  Does that email get delivered?

Have you looked in the Event Log to see if there are notifications of failed emails?

Im so sorry i made a stupid mistak when i configured the SMTP. I never pressed save. Now it works. Witch brings up another question: I tried the "recover password" function. And i get an email. But my password in the email is only stars. Transalted from swedish i get this: Website adress: salsaakademine.lautaro.se USername: Lautaro Psswrd: ******* Verification code: 0-3 Authorizes: Ja How is anyone supposed to be able to log in with that?

Host and admin accounts cannot retrieve passwords and will get only the ****** response. I think that this is done for security reasons.
