Hi I am planning on creating a new Home Page (home.aspx) The current home page has a few subpages - which I will want to sit below the new home page. Would you advise the best policy is to create the New Home page, then manually migrate the sub pages to it and then rename the pages. Home.aspx --> Old home.aspx New Home --> Home.aspx Any thoughts? Thanks Dave

Create the new page using the Add Page function. Name it Home-new or something like that. If you set it to not appear in the menu, it's not likely to be discovered. For security, you can set the page to be visible only to administrators. If you do that, you can include it in the menu and that will make it easier to deal with the page.
Configure the new page to your liking.
Then, rename the old home page to Home-Old, rename the new page to Home and then use the Admin, Pages tools to move any pages that were under the old home page to their new home. You can rename them if you need to.
Finally, adjust the viewing parameters and menu.

Hi Joe Forethought and planning are everything. Thinking more about my new "Home" page it is almost a "splash page" People who type in the domain name will get this page because it will be set by the Site Settings. People searching will be given the organic result and will land on the most relevant page or possibly get this "Home" page. People coming from Adwords will be sent to a page of my choice. My main concern had been that the current Home page has sub pages and links throughout the site. So if I had renamed the Home page to Old Home Page then I possibly would have lost the links through the site. The lesson I have learnt for the future and other site builders is create a Home page and have nothing else under it. Then if you really, really need to change it then the process will be realtively painless. Regards Dave
