I deleted a user account, now i'm trying to create that account again with the same username. Looks like the record is still in the database since I get an error message saying the account already exist. When I look in the users database the record is gone. Any way that I can fix this? I'm running dnn 4.9.1

Users are "soft-deleted" these days. I'm not sure, and I haven't looked to refresh my memory ... but ... if you can go into the USERS table and change the field that says that the user is deleted, that may be enough.

Do this sort of experimentation, though, with a duplicate of the site, just to make sure.

Thanks for the reply Joseph. I took a look at the users table and I don't have a column thats lets me know that the user is deleted. I can see the users record.

There is a column in the Users table called IsDeleted.  Change the value from True to False, and the user should be undeleted.

In my users table I don't have the IsDeleted column. The columns that I do have are userid, username, firstname, lastname, issuperuser, affiliateid, email, displayname and updatepassword. I'm running dnn 4.9.1, I've read that in dnn 5 there is that column IsDeleted in the users table. Thanks!

Yes.  If you are running an older version of DotNetNuke, I believe that users are actually deleted rather than marked as deleted.  So, it might not be possible to recover deleted users.

Do deleted users persist in some of the other tables?

I use a module (DNNUserImport by PHDobson) to manage my site subscribers, to add and "delete" bulk changes

I had the same issue when someone re-joined. They were "rejected" as a user with that name already existed even though I could not see them in the User List

I contacted Pete (PHDobson) and he recommended that instead of Deleting it is actually better to unAuthorize them

I have yet to check this but it sounds reasonable
