Hi, I am having difficulties grasping the concept of integrating my Visual Stidio with my DNN portal. I have installed the starter kit. once i create a new project i get a bit lost on what to do. eg. one of the instructions is to remove the root namespace txtbox to blank. when i do this i am prompted with validation saying cannot be blank. Does anyone know of a easy good step by step guide? preferably in c# if it makes a difference..

This book explains the basics of module development, with the configuration explained, I believe on page 48 which you may be able to browse online. "Professional DotNetNuke Module Programming" by Mitchell Sellers. I develop in VB rather than c# and configuring the namespace is different, otherwise I'd tell you. This book also tells how to install DNN and walks you thru setting up a Guestbook module so it's good for just getting started, although I did find a coding error in the VB version. The C#version had this error corrected though.

Could you also explain why you want or need to use Visual Studio? Unless you plan to do module development, there's little need to even know that VS exists!

Joe - I am building a forum site, and on the home page i want a ListView control housing the different categories, latest posts and stats etc. I assuming i would need to create my own module to accomplish this.

Please inform me if i am wrong?
