Could you help me out?

I have DNN 4.3.5 installed locally.

I just went all the way through Michael Washingtons tutorial on creating a module.. and that was great... then I made the mistake of installing a free skin I got from somwhere...

It failed to load/initialise.. got that error about there being no skin files etc...

So I clicked on the Restore Default Skin link.....

And I got this error...

An error has occurred.

So, now I'm wondering what I can do to get this dnn site back working... I don't want to reinstall cos of all the work I did with the module tutorial...

Hi Vida,

I have not used that method yet as it's a new feature in DotNetNuke. However, whenever I came across this problem previously, all I would do is delete the skin folder and files for the skin that is causing the problems.

So you just need to navigate to your DotNetNuke installation files, go to the portals folder, and then navigate to the area where you've uploaded the free skin.

Once you have found the folder that contains the free skin, delete this folder. - just make sure that you don't delete any of the other skin folders.

( You may also need to delete the container files for the free skin)

If you then navigate to a page on your DotNetNuke website that uses the old skin you should find that DotNetNuke now displays this page using the DNN blue skin.

-  You can now log in to your website and select in the settings which skin to use.

I would suggest you create a backup of your DotNetNuke installation files before you delete any files just in case.

yes there will be, but it depends on how you referenced the skin from either the host / admin or page settings. - I have found it's much quicker and easier to just delete the skin that is causing the problems and then DNN will revert back to the DNN Blue skin.
