I edited text field and now all portals are down - how do I fix? After editing 'terms of service', clicked on update and my complete site went down showing the following server error on all portals: 500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. There is a file GlobalResources..Host.resx with today's date, did something go wrong with the saving crupting the file on the server? I don't have a back-up of this file, but do have a GlobalResources.resx file from 4.x Help! Thank you. - Bruce

What were you editing?

The easiest "fix" is to replace that file with the corresponding one from the install or upgrade package for your version of DotNetNuke. I would not replace it with one from another version. Hopefully you know which version of DotNetNuke is installed. If you don't you will need to peer into the Versions table in your database and look at the last entry.

And, I'd save this file to see what may have gone wrong with it.

From your comment, it doesn't seem like I am too far off in my approach, just the environment is not known.  How many files can be shared with all portals?   Is there a published list of shared DNN files?  I think GoDaddy has my site at 5.4.4

My worry in the database.  Is there a database inspector (web page) as part of the DNN install?

Basically, files not in the Portal/N directories are shared with all portals.

You host may provide a tool to look into the database.  You can execute sql scripts from the host/sql page.  You may also be able to use SQL Server Management Studio or Express.
