Hi,
We are running DNN V 4.09.03. The tutorial is How_to_limit_access_to_the_admin_menu_video_11min27secs. Along with the missing icon issue I have another question about this process.
Can I successfully move the File Manager out from the Admin menu to the new SiteAdmin menu where the Pages (Tabs) now resides?
I moved the Pages (Tabs) menu item out of the Admin menu to a new page/menu. I now have an X in the upper left hand corner where an image is supposed to be. I want to move the File Manager also, but need to find out why the image is lost first. I also want to know if I can reverse this process to put the Pages (Tabs) page back under the Admin menu.
This wont work with the FileManager as you will not be able to give the users correct access for the module to work correctly.
In DNN 5.x these features are now standard where you can move the modules out of the admin menu and give any user access. I would suggest you place the tabs page back in the admin menu and then upgrade to DNN 5.
To place the tabs page back, you need to access the database table "Tabs"
Look for the row of data with the TabName "Tabs"
Check the Parent id
Now look at the Parentid for a different item that is in the admin menu, such as "User Accounts", this will give you the parent id number for the admin menu, make a note of this value.
Now change the value of Parent id in the "Tabs" row to match the Parent id from the "User Accounts" row
The Tabs page should now display back in the admin menu
(You may need to go to the hoat menu / host settings, scroll to the bottom and click on Restart Application for the new settings to display)
