Hi, I got a request from a customer to enable his site to be found not only on the url "http://www.vlaamseschermbond.be" but also on the url "http://vlaamseschermbond.be". I thought creating a new portal alias "vlaamseschermbond.be" would do the trick, but apparently not. How can I make a webaddress with the format http://mysite.be" get resolved in DNN? Thanks for your help, Anthony

Doing that will cause the site to respond to request for the other URL. You must also set DNS for the new URL to point to the DotNetNuke installation.

If I want it only to resolve at www.mysite.com but direct you only to the home page at mysite.com - so as to keep all my information in the same place with webmaster tools, analytics, etc. - I add it to DNS and site host header, but don't add as a site alias.

If I want mysite.com/home.aspx and www.mysite.com/home.aspx to be reachable, bookmark-able & indexable, I add both as host headers. I try not to add more than those two as alias - just allow redirection to home page - so my search engine optimazation work isn't destroyed & my ranking split up into various domain names (say, mysite.com, myothersite.com, myothersite.net, mycommonlymisspelledsite.com).

The three things you need for an alias to work fully in DNN are:
-DNS A record (I usually do one for mysite.com and www.mysite.com)
-matching host header on website listing in server
-alias added to DNN site
