When you click on the Terms of Use link, the top of the page has a header "Terms of Use".
However, considering I have edited the link at the bottom of the page to say Terms and Conditions (via admin\Skins\App_LocalResources\terms.ascx.resx) I would like the header on the page to show the same.
Is this something that can be done?
I have done a rough workaround for now, whereby I have manually edited the copy of the Ts & Cs and added "Terms and Conditions" to the top, and then set visibility against span#dnn_ctr_dnnTITLE_lblTitle to "hidden" within my skin.css file, but wondering if there is a better way (and not sure yet of the ramifications on other pages with what I have done) |

You can edit the contents of the Terms page and the Privacy page (as well as other standard text) using the Language Editor. Look in GlobalResources.
You can also create your own Terms and Privacy pages and link to them.

Thanks Joe, probably should have quantified. The general content of the Terms and Conditions I'm fine with. I have edited this via Admin > Languages > Language Editor, etc But the very top header is not editable using this method, and it still says Terms of Use (you cannot see this bit via the language editor) Maybe ultimately creating my own Terms page is the way to go, but I'll see how my CSS hack holds up |

The TERMS skin object has a "text" attribute that allows you to specify that text. You'll need to change that in your skin file. If you are using an ascx skin, then add
text="My Text"
to the TERMS tag. If you are using an HTML skin, you'll need to add this in the skin.xml file.

I think I'm getting more confused
Within my skin I am using the index.ascx file
Within this there is a reference to "dnn:TERMS runat="server" id="dnnTERMS" CssClass="footer" /"
Do you mean I should edit this to read:
"dnn:TERMS runat="server" text="My Text" id="dnnTERMS" CssClass="footer" /"
If I do that, the link changes (attachment01) but when I click on the link, the "header line" (might be called something else. It has a class of Head) still reads Terms of Use, not "My Text" (attachment02)
It's the text in the 2nd attachment that I'm trying to change (and at the moment have hidden instead)

Still with the Language Editor, look at: Local_Resources, Admin, Skins, App_LocalResources, Terms.ascx. You will be able to edit "Terms of Use" there.

Sorry, that changes the text of the skin object. Not what you want.

The correct answer is ...
Local_Resources, Portal, App_LocalResources,Terms.ascx
And the name of the text is:
ControlTitle_terms.Text
Privacy is similar ...

off-topic, but is there a way I can flag this post as "closed", "answered", or something to that effect? Or give you credit? |
