kinPath image not showing - stumped

I am trying to use a SkinPath to display an image link in my skin. I have been successful in doing this to display a logo in another site but I am having a problem getting the images to display...only red x's. I have verified that the image is in the "images" folder inside the skin folder. All link properties are correct and appear properly but no image...just a red "x." I would appreciate any insight.

Are you sure that you've got your image in the right images folder? I don't have experience with skinpath, but is it relative to the skins folder or relative to the Portal/0 folder?

Yes. I have tried putting it in several different places. I know that the SkinPath should reference the default skin folder. It simply will not work. The images are dead.

Right-click on the broken image link, look at properties, and you should see the full path of the link. If you'll post that, perhaps we can identify the problem.
