hi, I have a dot net nuke application running on my local pc, where default website is working properly.. but whenever i try to create a sub portal or another portal in the same installation, it is created but not working. The link does not open the child portal. I try to login with the sub-user related to child portal, but is not logging in......error user not found.... Also when I try to create a new page, there is no option to tell the system that this page belongs to child portal. The page is by default created for the child portal...... Please tell me if you have any solution for this....

To DotNetNuke, the portals are separate. If you are in the child portal and add a page, it will be added to the child portal. If you are in another portal, the page will be added to that portal.

As for child portals not working, the first thing to look at is the portal alias for the child portal. What is it? How are you also trying to address the child portal?

I am sign in as Host and trying to add pages. By default it adds to parent portal.

At the time of creating child portal, a user also is created. but whenever i try to login using that username & password, it can't login. says user not found.

Portal alias is as http://localhost/parentportal/childportal

You should not have http:// as part of the portal alias.

Assuming that the parent portal is localhost/parentportal, the child portal should be localhost/parentportal/childportal.

Logged in as host, you should be able to visit the child portal.  Go to the host/portals page, and click on the portal alias for the child portal once you have fixed it.  When you are there, you should be able to edit the administrator's account including the password.

http:// are not part of portal alias.....

Parent portal Alias is
localhost/DNNtest21 which is by default, but not work on this link by IIS. it works from visual studio properly

Child Portal Alias is
localhost:49526/Parentportal/childportal

When i login as host, even then i am unable to run the child portal.

whenever i try to change the portal Alias in DB, the wholse site goes down...

I'm confused why the child portal is using a port and the parent is not.  I think that this will cause a problem.
