My server is in the USA, I am in AU, I have a problem with time on a module. It keeps showing server time not the users time settings.

I had the portal set to +GMT9. The user account also set to +GMT 9 . And the module still shows server time. Someone said the portal should be the same as the server time and the user sets there time to that?

Is there a simple test I can do to check if the DNN time is functioning correctly?

Yes that person is correct:

Go to Admin menu / Site Settings / Advanced Settings / Other Settings

and select the time zone that your portal is located in - ie. for one of my sites hosted in America it is set to (UTC -5) Eastern Time.

When a user registers they will automatically be added with the -5 timezone, if you are in a different timezone then you can change the settings in your own profile.

You may find that some modules just display server time rather than the time related to the user, this is due to the programming rather than a setting in your portal.

If you want to experiment with the timezones, you could install the core forum module as this has settings for configuring the timezones and also allowing per user time zones.
